Refund and cancellation policy
This policy explains how paid plans on NoteMaker renew, how you cancel, how upgrades and downgrades are charged, and when we refund. It forms part of our Terms of use. Payments are processed by Razorpay; we never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
Plans and billing
Paid plans are billed in Indian rupees, in advance, for one month at a time. A monthly plan renews automatically each month through Razorpay until you stop it. AI top-ups are one-time purchases that add to the current month’s Agent Mode allowance and do not carry over to the next month.
Billing is done by a workspace’s owners and admins. Every payment has a numbered invoice that you can open from Settings → Billing. Where tax applies, it is shown on the invoice.
Free trial
A new person can start one free trial, without payment details. When the trial ends, the workspace becomes read-only after a short grace period until you subscribe. Nothing is deleted and you can export your content at any time.
Cancelling
You can stop a monthly plan from renewing at any time in Settings → Billing → Stop renewing. You keep the plan, with everything in it, until the end of the month you have already paid for, and we do not charge you again. Stopping renewal cannot be undone: to continue after that month, subscribe again from the same page.
When a paid term ends without renewal, and after the grace period shown in your plan, the workspace becomes read-only. You can still read, search and export everything, and nothing is deleted.
Upgrades and downgrades
An upgrade starts at once. You pay only the difference between the two plans for the days left in the current month, and from the next renewal the new plan’s monthly price applies. You can also upgrade after you have stopped renewing; the bigger plan then runs until the end of the month you paid for.
A downgrade to a cheaper plan starts with the next monthly renewal, and you keep your current plan until then. A downgrade is refused if the workspace is using more than the cheaper plan allows (for example more members), and we check again two days before the change. A downgrade is not possible once you have stopped renewing, because there is no next renewal; choose the cheaper plan when you subscribe again.
Refunds
Fees are charged in advance, and we do not refund part of a billing period that has already started, so cancelling stops future charges but does not return the current month’s payment. We refund in these cases:
- Duplicate or mistaken charges. If you were charged twice, or charged an amount that does not match your plan, we refund the difference in full.
- First payment. If you contact us within 7 days of your first payment for a plan and have not relied on it, we refund it in full.
- A failure on our side. If the Service was unavailable for a significant part of a billing period because of us, write to us and we will consider a refund or credit for the affected time.
AI top-ups are refunded only if they were charged by mistake, or if the credit was never added to your workspace.
To ask for a refund, write to support@thenotemaker.com from the workspace owner’s or an admin’s email address, naming the workspace and the payment. We issue approved refunds to the original payment method through Razorpay. Banks usually take 5 to 7 working days to show the money. When a refund is for a plan payment, we may end the paid plan on an agreed date instead of keeping it running; we will tell you the date when we confirm the refund. If a credit note applies, we send it to the billing email.
Price changes
If we change the price of a plan, existing subscriptions keep their current price until the end of the month they have been paid for, and we tell you before the new price applies to your next renewal.
